Tube Bending
One of the processes that Deerfield Machine
Parts (DMP) relies on for high quality tubing products is
tube bending. Tube bending requires a high level of precision
and skill to achieve a specific shape or geometry. As a
job shop, DMP employs experienced machinists to exercise
the precision necessary for reaching tight tolerances. See
examples of tube bending by Deerfield Machine Parts.
What is Tube Bending?
Tube bending is a forming process that applies force sufficient
for exceeding the yield point of a specific material yet
controlled enough to stay within the ultimate tensile strength.
Yield point measures the force necessary to cause permanent
alteration in the shape of a material; ultimate tensile
strength is a measurement of the force necessary to tear
a material. When sufficient (and not excessive) force is
applied to a tube, the outer wall is stretched while the
inner wall is compressed. The result is a bend in the tubing.
Tube Bending at Deerfield Machine Parts
Focusing precision bending efforts on small diameter tubing
(1/2 inch or less), Deerfield Machine Parts utilizes two
types of simple tube bending processes: rotary draw bending
and compression bending. Rotary draw bending is executed
through the use of movable bending form, pressure die, wiper
die, and clamping die. Capable of producing angles up to
180 degrees, rotary die bending is one of the most common
precision techniques. Compression bending utilizes a stationary
bending die that does not rotate with the workpiece. This
type of bending is usually best for tubing products that
require closer dimensional shapes and turns. Deerfield Machine
Products uses specialized bending equipment for compression
and rotary draw bending to ensure that all final tubing
products achieve tight tolerances and meet exact customer
specification.
Deerfield Machine Parts can also provide tube flaring and
endforming. Deerfield Machine Parts is a contract manufacturing
company located in New Jersey. From custom machining to
production manufacturing, DMP is proud to provide tubing
and pipe products to customers from states such as New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York. |
